i have been getting into art films as a way of adding meaning to my life, which is what they do, according to the experts.
i think they have a point.
there's nothing quite like 2hrs of really top class boredom for making you feel superior to your fellow humans.
after watching "departures", i wanna shouted to everyone in the cinema: "i survived!"
gosh..
to backtrack alittle, i have been cheated so much $ on jappy films that i literally hated all things in related to jap.
BUT cus of the Oscar's thingy and my dearest bro's recommendation, i decided to give jappy movie one last chance.
i regretted it.
helping the deads make-up.
that is the whole theme of the movie, and thruout the 2hrs++, they did nothing but that.
ok, to be fair, the first time i saw how it was done, it was kind of fascinating.
after which, they just keep repeat the same procedures over and over again,
and i just get bored.
oh ya, i belong to the "3secs-enthusiasm" category.
like all of the others jap's, there were lots of unnecessary heartwarming moments.
i hated it.
the pig sitting beside me had that look you see on the patient in ER just before the nurse says 'i think we're losing him, doctor.'
what's wrong with him?
i think next time i will just stick to Ang Lee - sounds like an art house director actually does kung fu movies. The best of all possible worlds.
